Foundation Year 2 Doctors

As of 2nd August 2023 Foundation Programme Year 2 Doctors will be joining our Practice on four month rotation as part of their NHS training.  A Foundation Doctor is a fully qualified hospital junior doctor and a prescriber.  These doctors will work under supervision by one of our GP Partners.  We look forward to welcoming our First Foundation Year 2 doctor to the Practice.

There is a Nurse Practitioner available at the Practice offering appointments for minor ailments on a Monday to Friday.  They are able to carry out examinations and prescribe medication as appropriate.

Practice Nurses are qualified and registered nurses. They can help with health issues such as family planning, healthy living advice, blood pressure checks and dressings. The practice nurses run clinics for long-term health conditions such as asthma or diabetes and carry out cervical smears and blood tests.

Our Phlebotomist sees patients for blood tests and blood pressure measurements. 

Carol Hossack -  Business Manager

Is responsible for the business aspects of the Practice - finance, premises, equipment, Information Technology.  Carol also supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care under the GP Contract.

Rhona Ritchie - Staff/Office Manager

Is responsible for Human Resources, Appointment System, Complaints Handling and Health & Safety for the Practice. 

Hazel Martin - Reception Administrator

Is responsible for the Chronic Disease Clinics, Patient Registration, Staff Training, and provides secretarial cover.

Receptionists

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide information on our services and make appointments with GPs and nurses. They also perform other tasks such as processing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries and test results.

We have our own Practice Pharmacists and they will review patients' medication, speak to patients with medication queries and provide support for the Practice.  The Pharmacists work closely with the GP to ensure patients are receiving the best possible outcome from medication, avoiding waste and harm.  The Practice also has a Pharmacy Technician who has a similar role to the Practice Pharmacist.

You may receive a letter from the Practice Pharmacist or Technician following a paper based medication review which has resulted in switching you from one medication to another. There can be multiple reasons for these switches including improved: Patient Safety, Medicines Compliance, Medicines Effectiveness, Long term outcomes and Cost Effectiveness for the NHS.

It you receive a letter from the Practice and would like to discuss any changes to your medication, please contact reception to arrange either a face to face or a telephone appointment with the Practice Pharmacist or Technician.

The Community Midwife holds an ante natal clinic at the Practice on a Thursday afternoon.  Appointments can be made by contacting reception.

A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
