Appointments
Patients who contact the Practice will be offered a telephone call or a F2F appointment with a health professional to discuss their problem.
All patients should be able to obtain advice from a healthcare professional within 48 hours. You have the right to ask to see a specific doctor and every effort will be made to offer you an appointment with your preferred doctor. A number of appointments are provided on a daily basis for urgent problems with either a Nurse Practitioner, if available, or a doctor other than your usual one.
"why does the receptionist need to ask what's wrong with me?" The reception staff are bound by confidentiality rules and trained to ask certain questions in order to ensure that the patient receives: the most appropriate medical care, from the most appropriate health professional, at the most appropriate time. The receptionists will ask for brief information from patients:
- To help doctors prioritise urgent appointments, home visits and telephone calls
- To ensure that all patients receive the appropriate level of care
- To direct patients to see nurse practitioner, nurse or other health professional rather than a doctor where appropriate.
Extended Hours Appointments
Nurse - from 8am on Tues/Wed/Fri
GP - from 8.20am on Tues/Wed/Thurs/8am some Fridays
GP - early evening appts alternate Mon & Wed
Telephone Consultations
The Practice offers a number of telephone consultation appointments each day, as there may be times when you find it more convenient to speak to the doctor rather than attend a face to face consultation. Video consultations are also available on request.
Nurse Practitioners
There is a Nurse Practitioner available at the Practice offering appointments for minor ailments on a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They are able to carry out examinations and prescribe medication as appropriate.
Practice Nurses
In a number of cases it might be worth considering an appointment with a practice nurse rather than a doctor. Practice nurses are qualified to deal with many ailments and you may be seen more quickly. Our nurses also run a number of specialist clinics and details can be found on the "clinics & services" section of this website. Appointments are available between 08:00 - 16:00. If you have not had your blood pressure checked in the last 5 years or if over 75 in the last 3 years, please consider making an appointment with the nurse.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason, please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to offer the appointment to another patient. Repeated failure not to attend booked appointments will result in removal from the Practice list.
